Happy May 1st!
April flew by which is good because some exciting things happened!
We spontaneously went to a Frisco Rough Riders baseball game.
I celebrated my birthday.
I was able to go home with Joe to have post-birthday and Easter celebrations with my parents.
I received a promotion at work!
We completed the Dallas Cowboys Draft Day 5K and I sat a PR!
Overall, April was a great month and hopefully May will be a great month as well! So, how did I do on my April goals that I set for myself?
One: Become a consistent blogger: I am going to give myself a C on this. I did blog more than I was. I posted 16 out of 30 days in May which is an improvement. I want to continue to blog 3-4 times a week in May with interesting posts. I feel like I have some of the same posts each week so I want to broaden what you read about!
Two: Workout more I give myself a D on this one. We only went to the gym 1-2 times a week. I should be going more so in May I have a new game plan!
Three: Improve at my job I give myself an B+ for this one! I finally feel like I’m getting comfortable in my job and meeting more people. My new team is great and I really think I’m going to like this job once I get completely trained. However, there’s always room to learn and grow!
Four: Make time for those I love and travel I give myself an B- on this one. I was able to spend Easter with my parents in Kentucky but I still have an itch to travel. Right now I don’t have enough PTO to take a week long vacation, but we are planning a weekend trip to Chicago in late May!
Five: Try two new recipes a week I’m going to give myself an A on this one because even if I didn’t cook two new recipes a week, we did try new restaurants this month which were successful. We have our favorites of course, but some new ones may get added into the rotation more!
Okay, so April went pretty well. What are my goals for May?
One: Workout more & add strength training: Since I didn’t do the greatest with this last month, I really want to work on it again this month. I’m going to try doing 1-1.5 mile runs on the treadmill to work on how far/long I can run without stopping and then add strength training afterwards. I need to come up with an actual game plan, but I want to incorporate more swimming into it!
Two: Eat mindfully I joined Weight Watchers in January but I fell off the wagon in April. I tried to start back today but my Chipotle burrito bowl plus chips & guac knocked me off again. I need to eat more mindfully and slower. I don’t need big portions, but smaller(not tiny) portions will do.
Three: Continue to improve at my job I am still training for my new job so I want to work hard so I can remind my bosses why they chose me!
Four: Worry less, smile more Lately I have been feeling some weight on my shoulders. My job isn’t stressing me out but I am worried about other things. I need to remember to Let go and Let God be in control. There are so many good things going on in my life that I need to focus on.
Five: Limit my spending I’m not a big spender by any means, but I do need to budget more. I’d love to buy a house someday and right now I need to work on my savings if that will ever happen. Eating tacos at my favorite taco place 3 days a week is a habit that started last week and I need to break! Eventually eating out and buying things I don’t need will add up!
That’s it for today, but what are some goals that you all have for this month? I hope you had a great May 1st! I’m already looking forward to Friday because it’s Cinco de Mayo and Kentucky Derby weekend!
