I hope you have had a great weekend! I finally dug myself out of the musical hole that I was living in and listened to the Hamilton soundtrack for the first time. Some of you might be judging me a little but I’m okay with it! If I had $400+ to spend on a ticket I’d book the next plane ticket to NYC to go see it at the Richard Rogers Theatre but I don’t. Hopefully when the tour gets close by I will be able to go see the show in person. What did you all do this weekend? I just thought I would share some highlights before we kick off a new week!
Work went well Friday. We had some slow periods in between customers which was a nice break to recollect. I was out the door quickly and on my way home! I made it home in 30 minutes which was a nice change from my usual 35-45 minute drive. When I got home, Joe mentioned that some of his work friends were at a nearby burger joint within walking distance so we went to partake in Happy Hour with them! I had a local beer which was okay but it was great to catch up with some of his work friends! Once everyone went their separate ways, we came back to the apartment to decide where we wanted to go to dinner. We still had salmon from the week to cook so I seasoned it up and “blackened” it in the oven at 400 degrees for 20 minutes with some thin sliced red potatoes and green beans! We relaxed the rest of the evening and I enjoyed some Mint Chip Halo Top while we watched 20/20.
One of my favorite things about weekends is that Saturday is the one day I can sleep in. I attempt to sleep later, but I was still up by 8:30! Anyone else remember their teenage/college years where you would sleep until noon?! We hung out in the living room before I made us go to the gym around 10:30/11:00. I tried some Advocare Spark Energy drink in the Watermelon flavor which was much better than the Grape packet that I have tried! We ran for 30 minutes on the treadmill, stretched, and then shot some basketball! Y’all, I’m not even going to lie but we were NOT good. We joked that our college basketball coaches would NOT be impressed with our skills. We went to the sauna for a few minutes and we headed out! Gym on a Saturday: check!
After the gym, we went to lunch at a local burger placed called Grub where I had the Mac & Cheeseburger. It had mac & cheese, bacon, and tomato on a fresh-baked bun that they make in-house! It was a great(albeit not that healthy) lunch after a great workout. We came back to the apartment and then went to lay by the pool for about an hour and a half since it was such a beautiful day outside. When we finally had enough sun, we came back upstairs to the apartment to relax and shower! I took a 15 minute power nap before I watched some of the Master’s as background noise and read some blog posts! When we got hungry, we went to an Irish pub nearby called The Holy Grail!
We ordered a couple beers to start off with(mine was from France and that’s all I remember) and the homemade pretzels with cheese and house made mustard which cleared your sinuses. For the main course, I had the steak sandwich with fries and Joe had the fish and chips. We ended the meal with a Snakebite(Cider beer + Lager/Blonde) for me and an Oberon for Joe. After dinner we walked around Target to pick up some things we needed and came home to play some Snipper Clips on the Nintendo Switch! We relaxed and I put some laundry away as well. Overall it was a great day where I definitely got my 10,000 steps in!
Sunday morning I wasn’t feeling 100% so we stayed in bed and watched a sermon from one of my favorite Pastor’s in Florida instead of going TO church. We still made the effort and it was nice to be able to hear Pastor David’s message even though we are in Texas now. After church, we got ready to go have lunch with one of our friends at Lockhart’s Smokehouse! You might remember that if you read my first Texas Thursday post! We ordered the Beef Brisket and mac & cheese again but ordered the smoked sausage too! It was such a great, filling lunch and I wish we had leftovers! It’s just that good, y’all. I mean granted we haven’t tried THAT many BBQ places in Texas yet but it still hit the spot.
The rest of the day Sunday was spent taking a nap, relaxing, grocery shopping, blogging, watching the boyfriend play Zelda and the Master’s Golf Tournament! Did you all watch the Master’s? I only watched a few minutes because golf almost puts me to sleep but it did make me want to go to Top Golf! Still trying to make it out there sometime before it gets too hot in the Texas summer. Around 4:30/5:00 we were bored so we wanted to go do something! We ended up at the local Minor league baseball game spontaneously and it was so fun! We went for a drive and saw the lights on so we wanted to know if they were playing and they were! We bought tickets, enjoyed a beer and a snack and watched a few innings. The Frisco Rough Riders lost, but it was still a great time! I’m excited for the next time that we go.
I hope you all had a great weekend as well!! Did you all do anything spontaneous? I’ll be back tomorrow with another post so make sure you come back for it!
