Hey everyone! I don’t know about you all but I need one more day of rest to recover from my weekend! I hope you all had a great one as well! Let’s get to the recap, shall we?
After work Friday, I was in the mood for a steak. Normally I can’t pick a restaurant/what I want to eat. However, on Friday I knew I wanted a steak. My boyfriend, Joe, picked an amazing restaurant called Bob’s Steak and Chop House. It had great reviews on Yelp and in D Magazine so we decided to check it out. When we got there for our 8:00 reservation, we were seated right away! Our server, Yesniv, was awesome. I’d go back to sit at one of his tables again! After taking our drink order, he brought us out fresh baked, warm bread that left crumbs on the table because of the flakiness. It was so good but I made sure not to fill up on bread before our steaks got there. All of the steaks come with a glazed carrot and your choice of a potato. I chose the fried potatoes with gravy but Joe got a baked potato that they dressed right in front of him with the toppings. Our steaks were cooked perfectly and had so much flavor.
After dinner, our server brought us a plate of dessert samples that were so cute. The three desserts were a mini chocolate cake, mini key lime pie, and mini carrot cake. They were just the perfect amount to compliment our meal and Yesniv even had a candle lit since I was celebrating! Last Monday, I found out that I got the promotion that I applied for with my current company! I will be a Customer Care Social Media Specialist and I’m so excited that I got this opportunity. The whole dinner I felt so special and so loved. Joe does a great day making me feel loved every day, but especially Friday night! After a delicious dinner, we came back to the apartment and relaxed. It ended up storming with small pieces of hail! We went to bed while it was storming outside which was so relaxing.
We both wanted to run on Saturday morning. After lounging around the house, we got ready and headed to Katy Trail. We didn’t end up running as much, but we went off trail to see a few downtown Dallas sights! We left Katy Trail, walked by American Airlines Center and then down Houston St. Where Houston St. meets Elm, there’s the grassy knoll and The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza. This area is important to U.S. History because it is the place where John F. Kennedy was assassinated on November 22, 1963. We just walked around the area, but you can actually take a tour! The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza is open 7 days a week unless it’s a museum holiday. I want to go back to take the tour sometime. It was interesting to see where such a big part of U.S. history took place.
After we left the JFK memorial area, we kept walking towards Reunion Tower! I want to come back and go inside of Reunion Tower next time but it was great to see it up close. We headed back to Katy Trail after our adventure to Reunion Tower and ended up completing 5 miles altogether by the time we got back to our car! For lunch we went to a new-to-us restaurant called the Village Burger Bar which hit the spot. I had a create your own burger and Joe had the Dougie. We needed to walk around after lunch so we headed to Target to do some shopping.
We came back to the apartment so I could nap while Joe worked on some stuff. For dinner we ordered from a Thai place that had good reviews on Yelp and GrubHub. The food was good and it was nice to order in! We watched Blank Check on Netflix before calling it a night! Does anyone else remember that 90’s Disney movie? It definitely took me back.
Our bodies both told us to sleep in on Sunday morning so instead of going to the 9:30 church service, we went to the 11:15! I did some chores around the apartment, drank my coffee and got ready to go to mass! It was a great service about the week after Jesus’ resurrection. Once mass was over, we went to Fuzzy’s Taco Shop for lunch. We sat outside because it was such a great day for it! Joe had the brisket quesadilla while I had the chicken fajita nachos(add guac please). We enjoyed our lunch and went BACK to Target afterwards! We really enjoy our Target dates. On our previous trip, I was charged twice and we needed to pick up some other things.
Sunday was such a beautiful day so I went down to lay out by our pool. Once I had enough sun, I came back upstairs to change into my running clothes. It was warm outside for my 4 mile run! I didn’t have a great pace, but I’m still happy with where I am. I have only been running 1-2 times a week since my half marathon so I don’t expect myself to get faster. I need to pick up the workouts though because I feel like I have been slacking.
Post-run I came back to the apartment and showered. I threw some laundry in before we went to the grocery store. We picked up food for the week and ran into one of the guys that Joe works with which was nice. He also went to the University of Kentucky and played football there so it’s nice to have a fellow Wildcat around town. Even though we had groceries to use, we didn’t feel like cooking so we went to Half Shells Seafood Grill. It was our first visit to the restaurant. Once we told the server it was our first time, she brought us a plate of soup samples and oyster nachos. For our main course, we ordered a catfish po’boy and a crab cake sandwich. Both of our sides had a cup of gumbo instead of fries which I definitely recommend. All of their soups were great and I would get that over fries the next time I go.
Overall, we had a great weekend. I ended up logging about 9 miles total which was a nice change. It stormed Friday night but was beautiful by Sunday. I’ll take it! What did you all do this weekend? I’ll be back tomorrow with another post. Hope you all are having a great Monday!
